Working in this business for decades, I know the challenges. I know that when it comes to condo living, there are three major problems and they all start with “P.” Pets, Parking and People. The first “P” specifically, was my area of concern.

Even though I had seen dogs in the buildings I had to confirm that my dog could come. Let me start by saying that this came as a bit of a surprise to my husband. He didn’t think the dog was coming. Between doggie day care and the housekeeper, he thought maybe the dog would “hold the fort” at home. After explaining to him that either we all go, or none of us go, and that this was a FAMILY adventure, he understood (and had a chuckle). And so I asked the inevitable question. Everyone I asked seemed to be 100% uncertain.  Reason being, there’s a lot to consider in condo living. There are Condo Docs, Property Managers and even a Board of Directors that are involved.

Fortunately, we found out that the community we were moving in to (fingers crossed) had a sensible rule. Decisions regarding dogs are based on behaviour, not size. As long as a dog is well behaved, they are welcome. The condo even promotes an educational piece called “Petiquette” so that pet owners and non-pet owners alike, can live in harmony. Huge sigh of relief. Let’s start packing.
